This project took me two years to finish because of couple reasons. The first one was that at the time I started it, I also bought a house so I was working on my project at the same time I was redecorating all rooms as well as working shifts, so I could only work on it during my days off. Unfortunately the second was an episode of great sadness in my life. In May 2008, my Dad lost the fight with stomach cancer and died. As a consequence I dropped this project for a long time, that's why it's seemed to change considerably from start to finish.
A few times I was getting back to into it, trying to fill this sad and horrible feeling with something that would take my mind off it, but unfortunately it didn’t really work. Eventually though I got back to the project and pulled through to finish it with a sense of great satisfaction.
I can really say acrylic is a great material to work with, but it takes a lot of time to make a nice finish. All the manual cutting, filing, sanding and polishing processes are extremely time consuming, however the final results are always amazing if it's done right. You can pretty much fabricate anything from acrylic sheets, so that can easily add a nice professional look to your mod.
I would like to thank all fellow
bit-tech, Sudhian, OcUK and Chilled PC forum members for helpful comments, hints and support they gave me during this long build process. Tom from
Chilled PC obviously gets a several nods for his continual help every time I needed to add a professional touch to this project. In addition, I would like to thank my 'better half', who let me spend all that time on playing with that “stupid piece of plastic” for so long. Thankfully, she finally admitted after two years of waiting that I had converted it into a “fantastic piece of plastic”! Now I only need to figure out how to tell her that I’m already planning a new project, because we all know, when you start modding, you never stop!
Finished Mod!
